ProProfs Quiz School

ProProfs Quiz SchoolProProfs Quiz School is a free tool intended for Americans which has allows users to create practise quizzes for exams as well as choosing for a sizable library full of practise quizzes for everything ranging from K-12 education to SAT (American; not the English/Welsh/Northern Irish SATs) to MCP courses. It might be an idea for adding British courses due to the pushes our government is putting on e-learning.

The site seems to be built from various tools mashed together. Registrations are handled through Invision Board, the ability to vote on quizzes through Pligg (a Digg-like tool) and the study guide part of the website is handled through MediaWiki. As a result, the site can prove hard to navigate.

The idea of quiz school is so that teachers can find quizzes in a central location, as well as allowing further e-learning in and out of the classroom.

The site has a very simple tool to make quizzes. Whilst it’s not heavy on eye-candy, it does the job. You title, describe and tag a quiz. You then can add multi-choice or fill in the blank questions. A problem with the latter, I’d expect, would be that it wouldn’t account for poor speling. . However, this simple approach might attract teachers who normally wouldn’t use such websites over the fears of complexity.

ProProfs offers a simple service which serves its function without adding unnecessary features. Unfortunately, it can be hard to navigate.
