WebSnapr is a simple service that takes thumbnails of websites free of charge, these thumbnails can be included on any website for free. This is unlike Alexa’s thumbnail service who charge $0.20 per 1000 impressions. I do doubt WebSnapr would be happy if you were going to send 1,000s of requests, though
.
WebSnapr itself could have various uses. For example, you could be running a directory or you could be like 9rules and need to provide many thumbnails of websites, alternatively you may simply be a blogger wanting to display previews of links prior to them load, like this.
There are a few scripts which implement WebSnapr. Many of these are WordPress plug-ins, there is also a stand-alone JavaScript, a bookmarklet and a plug-in for Windows Live Writer.
The size of the thumbnails it generates is 202×152.
A nice service, a bit like Alexa’s except its free ![]()
