Reviewr

Reviewr is going be a new feature to traffic exchange BlogMad are about to launch. It will allow users to request reviews and other users to complete them. While BlogExplosion allows users to review each other’s blog, it does not provide an incentive for doing so.

Reviewr will allow a blogger to request a review for a certain amount of credits on the site (1 credit = 1 visitor via. the traffic exchange), and reviewers then say if they are interested in reviewing the blog or not. The requester then selects a reviewer, based on the fact if they know them or their past ratings, and they receive the credits after writing the review.

This idea seems to be a reincarnation of a feature they had when BlogMad was in a private beta. This original feature was that a blogger paid the BlogMad team 100 credits to write a review, unfortunately this never worked because the BlogMad team had too large a workload.

I believe this feature will work extremely well. Most weblog review sites are either 1) not community edited or 2) provide no incentive for users to write reviews. This new feature provides an incentive and is edited by a community.

The official announcement, with screenshots, is here.
