Yesterday, 9rules launched a search tool which searches 9rules’ member’s articles, 9rules notes, Technorati, YouTube and Flickr.
Since November 2005, 9rules have been storing all member’s content in a database. Not all members are happy about this; many users have pointed out Google, Technorati and other search engines store data, so why can’t 9rules? I’m sure 9rules would remove content if the member requested.
9rules search searches through 31,000 blog posts, the majority of which are to the high 9rules standard, and a few thousand notes which have been added to 9rules. Also, it brings up results from YouTube and Flickr using Ajax. When there are not many 9rules results, it will display Technorati ones.
A few demo searches show the full power of this: iPod Shuffle, President Bush and Web 2.0 .
The site uses clean URLs, so instead of: http://9rules.com/search/index.php?searchterm=9rules you have: http://9rules.com/search/9rules .
This new search engine somewhat reminds me of TagFetch, which has recently been redesign, however it does not search as many sites. 9rules does, however, search many more high quality sites.
I’d like to see 9rules search release an API, so it can be integrated into even more sites!
