NotForNoobs was a viral ad which many people signed up for emails, just to see what the whole fuss was about. The MS logo and Razer (peripherals maker) logo flashes up on a TV on the site.
I’ve just received an email, telling me that more details are now up at the site. I was somewhat excited, because I didn’t have a clue what it would be about. Sarah guessed it had something to do with Zune, I meanwhile did not make a guess.
I suppose I could’ve guessed using the Razer logo, but here’s what the fuss is about: Microsoft Habu; a new mouse. I’m no expert in mice, but this mouse can get up to 2000 dpi, which sounds pretty impressive (considering I have an old, spare wheel mouse here with only 540 dpi). But are precision mice that important? Even for the gamer (the prime audience)? I feel somewhat disappointed: a mouse wasn’t as major a thing as what I was expecting.
So, viral marketing can be good, and some things like NotForNoobs get people’s attention. Shame the outcome was so disappointing, though.
