Wikiquote is a Wikimedia project (other projects include the Wikipedia, Wikimedia Commons, Wiktionary and Wikinews), providing a quote site anyone can edit.
Wikiquote isn’t as active as most other WMF projects, containing a mere 7,700 articles of quotes. However, many articles contain dozens of quotes.
Articles’ subject vary. Some are about fiction(al characters), such as The Simpsons and Jean-Luc Picard; while some are about topics such as Self; and others about real people such as He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named.
The beauty of Wikiquote is that if you have heard a good quote from a TV show, you can add it (taking it is accurate, notable and comprehensive). This provides a simple quote database which is easy to modify.
Wikiquote is fairly easy to use, using a simple MediaWiki installation – very similar to that used at the Wikipedia – and for anyone with even a couple of minutes of experience with the Wikipedia, it should be easy enough to find a quote.
Wikiquote is available in other languages, large ones being German, Polish, Bosnian, Russian, Bulgarian, Slovenian, Slovak and Portuguese (but interestingly there isn’t a French Wikiquote).
