Most of you reading this probably reading my blog know what bittern is, you probably even use it regularly. For those who don’t know BitTorrent is a P2P network (sort of).
BitTorrent is impossible to bring down. There’s no central server. Also, you can’t search it as simply as you can as Gnutella or DirectConnect. Like ED2K, you have to connect to different servers which have exchange information about a file’s status (total peers) but none of the file actually goes through them. These servers are called trackers. This might all change though… but I can’t be bothered to go into that.
Personally I love BitTorrent not just for the data, but it’s structure. Simpler than ED2K and more complex than Gnutella.
Ever since SuprNova went down BitTorrent has become slightly less popular. Everyone loved SuprNova - it was the ultimate source of warez. Where else will I get Windows XP Badger Edition? It was something live that anyway ![]()
SuprNova was the most obvious source for the MPAA/RIAA/other evil organisation to strike. It was the most popular source of torrents. Now it’s more competitive. You have hundreds of BitTorrent search sites, the most popular being TorrentSpy, ISOHunt and BitTorrent.com (due to it’s URL). I don’t like BitTorrent.com as it doesn’t list via. peer/seed (seeder is an uploader).
My favourite search site is TorrentSpy, though they are recently not very popular. Why? As they bundled malware with Rufus (an open-source torrent client). I think this is evil, yet I do like TorrentSpy.
Anyway, cutting to the point. A popular BitTorrent site is Demonoid, and I have some invites. If you add a link to me I’ll give you one. Simple. Just comment. I was mistaken. Thanks Dan.

i’ve been linked 2 u 4 about a week already, and just dropped by to say “hi.”
