Today, while reading UNEASYsilence I came across this post. It linked to an article at BetaNews.
Microsoft and Yahoo announced on Wednesday a blockbuster interoperability deal that will reshape the landscape of the fragmented instant messaging market. The companies will connect their IM networks so users on each can communicate with one another using text and voice chat free of charge.
Now this is great, nobody I knows actually uses Yahoo! Instant Messenger (YIM), but I prefer anything over MSN. I mean it block so much – I’d rather use GAIM. This will make even more users for each client; but why have they done it?
Are they trying to beat off other threats? Like the Google Talk or Skype? I love Skype myself – great VoIP and far faster than MSN. But surely with the extra users MSN will be even slower (and probably uglier).
MSN used to work with AIM, but people wonder if it ever will again. MSN did this though without AOL’s consent, so as you can probably guess they had to stop. I wonder when all networks will join, and if IRC may become an IM network.

I hope they stick with Yahoo’s style, which I prefer over anyone elses — but no one actually uses Yahoo, which is a pity.
AOL really needs to update their look, it’s horrid.
For real? that is great news! About time!! Now just get AOL and Skype and Google on board…
MSN and Yahoo! to Join IM
Wow! I was just reading a post over at Webby’s World regarding the blockbuster deal involving MSN and Yahoo! connecting their IM networks. Combined, the companies project that the platform will host over 275 million users. We can expect to
