I’ve just had 2 invites sent to me. One of them I’ve been really wanting. I got a Gawker Media invite which allows me to comment on A-list blogs like Lifehacker or Gizmodo. I got this because I sent in an (unpublished) tip, but I’m rather happy I got the invite anyway.
Not very many have the ability to comment on these sites, as to combat spam they simply made an invite necessary. I pretty much like this system, partly as it makes me feel important and partly as it works. I think soon many sites will be like this, by invite only, currently quite a few are: 30gigs.com, Flock, Wordpress.com and Gmail, sort of.
Before you ask I don’t have any invites, but if you need one you could try emailing a tip to tips (at) lifehacker (dot) com.
Oh, and another invite. I got a BlogMad invite, I don’t think it needs an invite, but I got one! It isn’t made yet, but it’s a new traffic exchange. If you are in the first 1000 to subscribe you get 25 credits, so you might as well join. If you do join though please use this link, as it get’s me 30 credits.
Some services don’t need invites though, a clear example is the first free 1TB email service, MailNation.
