Hobonation tries out Microsoft Vista!

Hobonation.com has written a review, complete with screenshots, on the new Windows operating system Vista.

Currently, I’m on vacation so I haven’t had a chance to try this myself, I do have a copy of Longhorn somewhere, but I won’t use it, I’ll try to fetch this from either IsoHunt or GNUtella. You can’t upgrade from XP, so I’ll have to find a decent bootloader (it needs to be simple, as some non-techies just want to use Windows XP, and it needs just to load XP by default after about 15 seconds); any suggestions (I’m also going to install Ubuntu, will GRUB do)?

Anyway, apparently the OS runs fine on a 512MB Athlon XP 2800+ without any major problems, so it should be fine on the Athlon 64 3400+ with 1.5GB of RAM.

The install process is apparently simple, with the only drawback being it took 45minutes to install! Screenshots of this, and everything else Vista, are located at Hoboimages. Another fault I coukd pick about the whole Vista experience is the fact that you have to use a silverish XPish interface, I have always being unkeen on these, and switched to a 2000 style layout the moment I got Windows XP!

As said, I don’t have this yet, so I can’t say to much about it, but looking at the screenshots Internet Explorer 7 is included, with tabbed browsing, however no changes have being made to the download manager (a shame)!

Anyway I will write more when I have this.
