To build on this and create a British equivalent of tech giants such as Microsoft, co-operation and communication between all those involved in the UK’s hi-tech sector - government, researchers, businesses and financiers - was key.
Basically, the BBC said how a report said our hi-tech culture and economy should be better, with more Brits in the industry and better co-operation between financiers, academics, technologists and the government would improve our high-tech life. I didn?t care about the report myself, as I see no problem working with Americans but the above quote did offend me.
Why? Do we want a British equivalent to Billy Gates? He?s a bloody devil
, and still we reward him the a KBE (Knight of the British Empire , if he was British he would be a Sir). I have no problem with hardware makers, but commercial software makers such as Microsoft are in my eyes evil.
Brits don?t really see how Microsoft are evil, and only has a 12% Firefox market share, unlike some other countries. Most Brits are very ignorant when it comes down with computers, not worrying about the 1 million pieces of spyware Spybot detected. They don?t see a problem with Microsoft. I try to open peoples eyes, and it often works.
I don?t mind shareware authors, because you generally only use it once anyway and they don?t make millions.
I think open-source developers should be encouraged, do you?
Also, I?ve just joined Flickr, the above photo is hotlinked from it. Feedburner subscribers will have the images going in by default.

yes
[...] Her Majesty awarded Gates a KBE, which you would have thought would have been controversial due to the lawsuits which were in progress at the time. No major news outlets found it concerning and many were indeed worried that we didn’t have a British Bill! [...]
