Google Earth, which used to be called Keyhole, is now available freely.
Naturally a commercial version is available. The plus version has GPS Device and spreadsheet data import and better resolution, while the pro version has all plus features, better resolution, the ability to measure area and optional add-ons.
The plus version costs $20 every year, and plus version costs $400 a year (not worth it really). It can go anywhere in the world, I’m not to sure about the technical stuff behind it, it’s cool.
One of features is that it can measure distances, in miles, nautical miles, kilometers, meters, feet, yards, inches or whatever you want. This is clever.
Google Earth also has the locations of gas stations, pharmacies, shops, coffee shops, hotels, bars, banks, hostels, roads, schools, hospitals etc…
This is fantastic free software and I think it’s worth a download!
It’s quite challenging on your system though, so be sure you can handle it!

Hi All Experts,
Does anyone use google earth images as ground image planes for use in aerial scenes. I know how to stitch them together but are there any tools or tricks to make sure that the images are at the same height, angle and such to make sure they stitch well. I know in the pro version you can get bigger images but im not going to pay for the pro version when i could stitch multiple images together…
